QotD: Top 5 Break-Up Songs
What are your top five break-up songs?
This is a question I have ever thought about. I know the point of break-up songs, but actually, to me they could be those kinda songs that remind me of the past relationships, those, which meant and still mean something to me. I could make a list of those songs. (And later I notice I also listed some real break-up songs)
1. HIM - One Last Time
The story of this song dates back a few years, to the 6th grade. It was the time of my first human love (and by this I don't mean I'd love animals, but music was my actual first love and it will be my last, so...) and the war between me and a girl I have ever liked too much. We both had a crush on the same boy at the same time and, I tell you, that still remains as one of the hardest eras in my life.
So, the song... It was the last disco of my time in the lower comprehensive school and the last slow song I danced with my love, J, was One Last Time by HIM. It will probably always be the one last time for us.
It was a huge thing to me, 'cause we both were big HIM fans back then.
2. Kane Roberts - Does Anybody Really Fall in Love Anymore?
This song is pretty new to me, but when I heard it the first time, I noticed the connection between me and the song immediately. Yeah, sounds weird, doesn't it? Well, it is weird.
Does Anybody Really Fall in Love Anymore? is just that kinda song that helps to understand other peoples' feelings (though it's usually me whose feelings I try to understand).
3. Scorpions - Still Loving You
It's so amazing this is only on the 3rd place! Because actually Still Loving You
is the king of ballads, the master of break-up songs and rock ballads.
Yes, of course, I love the Scorpions more than anything, so it should
be clear to everybody that their music helps me get though things. And
actually, to me Still Loving You dates back to the same times as One Last Time,
the time of my first love. The truth is that this song just can't be
personal in a way, 'cause so many people in the world love it. Anyway,
it still, after all these years, has and will always have it's magic.
4. Mötley Crüe - You're All I Need
The best ballad and the
best love song of Mötley Crüe. I don't know what to say, this just
is... "my song". Very beautiful. Feels kind of personal.
5. Dire Straits - Why Worry
Yeah, this is simply the most calming song in the world. This is not an actual break-up song, not even close to it, but to me this is very personal. Why Worry has helped me so much during the hard times. "Why worry? There should be laughter after pain, there should be sunshine after rain. These things have always been the same, so why worry now?"
