I have fell in love with Sixteen Tons by Tuff and Some Kind of Wonderful by Viva (the 80's heavy metal band Viva).
I have listened to a lot of "new" (new to me!) rock and metal bands from the 80's and I have found a couple of diamonds and a few of good songs during my search. Soon I'll give a listen to Pink Cream 69 and some other old stuff. I'm especially looking for an 80's hard rock/heavy metal band that sings in German. I haven't found any. If someone knows this kind of band, please tell me!
I never thought progressive rock would sound so good to me. I never though I wouldn't ever listen to anything else except hard rock, heavy metal and rock and roll, but now I - pretty often - find myself listening to Pink Floyd or Asia. I like the emphasis of progressive rock and that it's maybe just a bit "cleaner" than those rock and metal genres I mentioned earlier - or not, I don't know. Anyway, it sounds pretty good. Songs like Only Time Will Tell and Heat of the Moment by Asia have got me carried away immediately after I gave them a listen.
Who helped make you the cool person you are today?
All thanks to music. Music (and the people who create it) is the only thing that has made me the (cool) person I am today.
Rock'n'roll raised me to be tough, persistent and determined and the outcome of those things is what people can see outside of me. My clothing style has lots of influences from the 80's hard rock, and my hair is straight from the 80's - a perm.
Also some of the idiots that always make fun of my looks, have made me tough and brave. The more they make comments, the more I look down to them. Of course it wasn't always like that, they have made their damage, but it made me the one I am today.
If I had to mention a person, it would definitely be Klaus Meine! He's my absolute idol, my hero, my everything. I adore him more than anybody in the world. He has tought me the meaning of peace in the world and many, many and many other things I couldn't live without.
What event changed your life for the better?
It happened when I was in the 6th grade and really in love with one boy, that had a long, blond hair... I desperately tried to make him like me and that's why I started listening to the music he liked. We both were fans of HIM, but he also liked bands like Judas Priest, Scorpions and Iggy & the Stooges. I liked Judas Priest immediately. At first I had some problems at listening to the Scorpions, but then, finally, I got to listen to the 80's rock anthem Rock You Like a Hurricane and I loved it, too. (Notice: Nowadays I love the Scorpions more than anything, it's my favorite band, so it was J who in the very beginning introduced me to the Scorpions). From Iggy I liked the songs like Little Know It All, Lust for Life and so on.
As you probably have already noticed, I'm talking about the time I started listening to the old school metal music. The 80's hard rock is kinda sexual, energetic and positive (not everything), so it also changed me. I used to be a dark-minded metal fan before that. Because of the 80's rock music I became much more optimistic and sexual in a way, and that's the best thing that has happened to me.
If you could travel back in time, which era would you visit and why?
This is an easy one! ...though I have more than one answer, again.
First of all. I've always wanted to live in the 80's and I also love the 80's music, hard rock and hair metal. Even if I hated pop music, the 80's pop (A-ha for example now) sounds excellent when compared with the pop of the 21st century.
I also like the 70's very much and once I had a huge crush on the 70's, it was about a year ago. I would love to live the glam rock era!
And, well, I think almost everyone wants to live the time when they were born, so I'd also like to live the early 90's. I don't like the 90's music so much, except the 80's bands' music in the 90's, of course. Remember the good times, remember the bad times.
The most of me loves the years that have passed by a long time ago, but I can't deny the fact that a little part of me loves this moment and the 21st century.
