...yeah. I'm not going to tell you anything about that.

Crocodile Tears, the inspiration for the name of the 1988 Scorpions album, Savage Amusement. I don't like the style of the painting, but I love the theme. After all, I'm not that kinda person that is interested in paintings.

I'm working on my school "speech"! It's about the Scorpions, of course. This is the uncorrected version, but I'll post it here anyway.
"Good morning / afternoon my dear friends,
I am going to tell you about a thing that changed my life.
In 1965 a
group of young German boys, including Rudolf Schenker, appeared on the stage
for the first time, in other words, a band called Nameless played their first
gig.
I’m talking
about the Scorpions, of course. At first, the band was school-kind with beat
influences and Schenker himself on vocals. Things began to come together in
1971 when Schenker’s younger brother Michael and vocalist Klaus Meine joined
the band.
In 1972 the
group recorded and released their debut album Lonesome Crow with Lothar
Heimberg on bass and Wolfgang Dziony on drums.
During the
Lonesome Crow tour, the Scorpions opened for a British heavy metal band UFO. At
the end of the tour the members of UFO asked Michael Schenker to join the band,
which he did. A friend of the Schenkers’, Uli Jon Roth, finished off the tour
on lead guitar.
The
departure of Michael Schenker made the Scorpions break up. In 1973, Uli Jon
Roth’s band Dawn Road and the members of Scorpions united and the Scorpions
released their second album, Fly to the Rainbow, in 1974. It was their rise to
popularity.
In 1975 the
Scorpions released their third album, In Trance, which had a huge hit song, In
Trance. In 1976 they released an album named Virgin Killer. In the cover of
Virgin Killer was a teenaged girl wearing nothing and because of that the album
couldn’t be released in several countries. The cover picture was changed to a
simple picture of the band.
In 1977
they released Taken by Force and in 1978 they released a live album, Tokyo
Tapes, which obviously was recorded in Japan. After the Japanese tour Uli Jon
Roth left the band and he was replaced by Matthias Jabs.
In 1979 Scorpions
left RCA for Mercury Records to record their next album. Just weeks after being
evicted from UFO for his alcohol abuse, Michael Schenker also returned to the
group for a short period during the recordings of the album. The result was
Lovedrive. Containing such fan favorites as “Loving You Sunday Morning”, “Holiday” and the instrumental “Coast to
Coast”, the “Scorpions formula” of hard rock songs mixed in with melodic
ballads was firmly cemented. Lovedrive was the most successful Scorpions album
so far.
In 1980 the
Scorpions released Animal Magnetism, which was a critical disappointment when
compared with Lovedrive.
During the
recordings of the next album, in 1981, Klaus Meine lost his voice and was
leaving the band, but fortunately those men stuck together and Blackout was
finally released in 1982 and it quickly became the band’s best selling album, it
sold platinum. There were three hit singles on Blackout: “Blackout”, “Dynamite”
and “No One Like You”.
It was not
until 1984 and the release of Love at First Sting that the band finally became
a monster of rock. Love at First Sting included the 80’s rock anthem “Rock You
Like a Hurricane”, the classic ballad “Still Loving You” and many other hit
songs.
In 1985,
during the Love at First Sting tour, the Scorpions recorded and released their
first live album with Matthias Jabs, World Wide Live.
After three
years, in 1988, they released Savage Amusement, and in 1990 they released their
best selling album so far, Crazy World. Crazy World had many hit singles,
including “Send Me an Angel”, but one song was the greatest of all. The song
was Wind of Change, the ballad that made a change.
In 1993 the
Scorpions released Face the Heat, which was the heaviest Scorpions album ever.
It had a few hits, and an attractive song, Daddy’s Girl, that considers child
exploitation.
In 1995
they released their third live album, Live Bites, which wasn’t so successful
when compared with World Wide Live.
In 1996
they released their 13th studio album, Pure Instinct. During the
recordings of the album, the band’s drummer, Herman Rarebell, left the band,
and was replaced by Curt Cress, but after a little while an American drummer
James Kottak took over permanently.
In 1999 Eye
to Eye was released. It was a terrible mistake for the band. The album was a
mixture of rock, pop and techno and had electronic drums on several tracks.
In 2000 the
Scorpions recorded an album with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and named it
Moment of Glory. The album was full of colossal versions of the classic
Scorpions songs from the past.
In 2001
they released Acoustica, their fourth live album. Acoustica contained acoustic
versions of a few Scorpions songs, a cover of The Cars’ song Drive and a few
new songs.
After five years since the last studio album, in 2004, the Scorpions finally released Unbreakable. Unbreakable was the band’s return to rock music.
In May 2007 the Scorpions released their latest album, Humanity: Hour I, that is produced by Desmond Child. The album has a dark sound and it definitely proves that even though a couple band members are close to the age of 60 years, they can still kick ass.
I don’t
know if the Scorpions is a love story or a story of love. What I know is that
it is a story of true friendship. A story, that can make people make a change.
A story, that can make the world a better place.
And how did
those men and their music effect on me after all? They made me realise the
meaning of life, at least the meaning of my life. Thanks to the Scorpions, I
know everything in the world isn’t just for me. Even though all bad in the
world is not my fault, I still know that my responsibility is to help people
and stand by the oppressed.
So, isn’t
that something?"
